Note
The IC-271(A)(H) is a compact and lightweight transceiver suitable for fixed, mobile, and portable operations. It utilizes a CPU-controlled system with a no-backlash tuning dial and a large, easy-to-read vacuum florescent display. The unit is designed for versatility, supporting DX, local calls, and satellite work. It can be powered by either a 12V DC source or an optional internal/external AC power supply.
The IC-271(A)(H) sits as a mid-1980s "Second Generation" all-mode VHF base station. It was the bridge between the early analog-heavy designs of the 1970s and the more advanced digital rigs of the late 1980s.
It replaced the IC-251A, and was replaced by IC-275A. A UHF version, the IC-471A, was also produced.
Features
– Advanced Control: Features CPU control with ICOM's original programs and a unique rotary encoder circuit for smooth tuning.
– Memory and VFO: Equipped with 32 memory channels that store frequency, mode, and duplex settings. It also features dual VFOs for independent or split frequency operation.
– Scanning Capabilities: Includes multi-purpose scanning options such as Memory Scan (mode-selective) and Program Scan between two frequencies.
– Continuous Tuning: A 7-digit luminescent display provides accurate 100Hz readout, following the movement of the 50mm-diameter tuning knob.
– Performance Tools: Built-in effective Noise Blanker for pulse noise reduction and an RF amplifier/first mixer circuit using FETs for excellent selectivity and cross-modulation characteristics.
– Operational Ease: Includes a Dial Lock switch for mobile use and a powerful 2.0-watt audio output for clear listening in noisy environments.
