Note
The Icom IC-761 is an all-mode, all-solid-state HF transceiver and general coverage receiver. The unit incorporates advanced engineering, including a higher dynamic range for reception and high-quality final amplifier circuits. It was developed using feedback from Amateur users and performance data from various DX-peditions worldwide.
A relatively short production life: Made from 1988 to 1989.
Key Features
– Built-in Automatic Antenna Tuner: Features an advanced system for quick and well-matched antenna performance across HF bands.
– Outstanding Receiver Performance: Offers a 105dB dynamic range (approximately 100dB even with the preamp on) and utilizes Icom's Direct Feed Mixer (DFM) for higher sensitivity and spurious response rejection.
– General Coverage Receiver: Provides a wide tuning range from 100kHz to 30MHz.
– CW Capabilities: Includes both full and semi-break-in alongside a built-in electronic keyer.
– High Stability: Contains a built-in crystal unit with a temperature-compensating oven heater, achieving frequency stability of less than ±100Hz.
– Memory and Scanning: Equipped with 32 programmable memories backed by a 10-year lithium battery and four separate scanning functions.
– Remote Control: Supports full PC communication via a rear-panel RS-232C serial port for controlling frequency, mode, and memories.
– Multi-Function Meter: During transmission, the meter can indicate collector voltage (Vc), collector current (Ic), compression level (COMP), ALC level, relative output power (Po), and SWR.
Specifications
– Operational Modes: All-mode capability (SSB, CW, RTTY, AM, FM).
– Frequency Range: 100kHz to 30MHz (Receiver).
– Frequency Stability: Less than ±100Hz within a temperature range of −10∘C to +60∘C.
– Dynamic Range: 105dB.
– Keying Speed: Variable between 5 and 45 wpm.
– Data Rate: Standard 1200bps for the serial port.
– Operating Temperature: Suitable for environments between −10∘C and +60∘C
AC Power Operation: A built-in AC power supply. For the 120V AC version, it uses a 10A fuse, and for the 220–240V AC version, it uses a 5A fuse.
DC Power Output: The unit provides a 13.8V DC output jack on the rear panel, which is protected by a 2A fuse.
