General Notes

Note

The Icom IC-9700 is a high-performance VHF/UHF/1.2 GHz all-mode transceiver. It is designed as a companion to the IC-7300 HF radio, sharing a similar user interface and touchscreen operation. The IC-9700 utilizes SDR technology (direct sampling for 144/430 MHz and down-conversion IF sampling for 1200 MHz). Features – Three Band Coverage: Built-in support for 144 MHz, 430/440 MHz, and 1200 MHz. –  High-Speed Spectrum Scope: Provides a real-time visual representation of the band with Waterfall display. – D-STAR Integrated: Supports both DV (Digital Voice) and DD (Digital Data) modes. – Satellite Operation: Features comprehensive satellite mode with tracking and 99 memory channels. – Independent Receivers: Allows for simultaneous reception on two different bands (Sub-receiver). Specifications General – Frequency Coverage (USA version): 144.000–148.000 MHz 430.000–450.000 MHz 1240.000–1300.000 MHz – Operating Modes: SSB, CW, RTTY, AM, FM, DV, DD – Number of Memory Channels: 321 (99 Memory + 6 Scan Edges + 2 Call channels for each band) – Antenna Connectors: 144 MHz: SO-239 (50 Ω) 430/440 MHz: Type-N (50 Ω) 1200 MHz: Type-N (50 Ω) – Operating Temperature Range: –10°C to +60°C (14°F to 140°F) – Frequency Stability: Less than ±0.5 ppm (–10°C to +60°C) – Frequency Resolution: 1 Hz Transmitter – Output Power: 144 MHz: 0.5–100 W 430/440 MHz: 0.5–75 W 1200 MHz: 0.1–10 W – Modulation System: SSB: Balanced Modulation AM: Low Power Modulation FM: Variable Reactance Modulation DV: GMSK Variable Reactance Modulation DD: Quadrature Modulation – Spurious Emissions: 144/430 MHz: ≤ –60 dBc 1200 MHz: ≤ –50 dBc – Carrier Suppression: More than 50 dB – Unwanted Sideband: More than 50 dB – Microphone Impedance: 600 Ω Receiver – Receive System: 144/430 MHz: Direct Sampling – Intermediate Frequencies (1200 MHz): 311–371 MHz – Sensitivity (Typical): SSB/CW (10 dB S/N): Less than 0.11 μV AM (10 dB S/N): Less than 1.0 μV FM (12 dB SINAD): Less than 0.18 μV DV (1% BER): Less than 0.35 μV DD (1% BER): Less than 1.59 μV – Selectivity (Filter: Shape SHARP): SSB (BW=2.4 kHz): More than 2.4 kHz/–6 dB CW (BW=500 Hz): More than 500 Hz/–6 dB RTTY (BW=500 Hz): More than 500 Hz/–6 dB AM (BW=6 kHz): More than 6.0 kHz/–6 dB FM (BW=15 kHz): More than 12.0 kHz/–6 dB DV (12.5 kHz spacing): More than –50 dB DD (300 kHz spacing): More than –40 dB – Spurious and Image Rejection Ratio: 144/430 MHz: More than 70 dB 1200 MHz: More than 50 dB – Audio Output Power: More than 2.0 W (at 10% distortion with an 8 Ω load) – AF Output Impedance: 8 Ω Power Supply Requirement: 13.8 V DC (±15%) Current Drain: Transmit: Max 18.0 A Receive: 1.2 A (Standby), 1.8 A (Maximum audio)
