General Notes

Note

The Icom IC-R7000 is a sophisticated, continuous coverage communications receiver designed to cover from 25–2000 MHz within a single compact unit. It is capable of receiving various services such as aircraft, marine, amateur radio, emergency services, and television bands. The first advertisements for the unit began appearing in radio hobbyist magazines in late 1985, and it remained a flagship wideband receiver until it was replaced by the IC-R7100 in the early 1990s. During its production run, there were minor cosmetic changes, most notably a transition in the font style used for the "ICOM" logo on the front panel. Earlier models (roughly 1986–1987) typically featured a larger, blockier font, while later production units (roughly 1988–1990) moved to a smaller, more modern font style. Features – Mode Versatility: Incorporates AM, FM (wide and narrow), and SSB (USB and LSB) modes. – Advanced Control: Features the CI-V System for convenient computer control. – Memory and Tuning: Equipped with 99 owner-programmable internal memories and a keyboard for direct frequency entry. – Scanning Functions: Offers six separate scanning functions, including Priority, Programmed, Selected Memory, and Auto-Write Memory Scan. – Specialized Functions: Includes Voice Scan Control (VSC) to skip inaudible signals and an S-Meter Squelch for filtering signals based on strength. Specifications – Frequency Range: USA/Europe versions: 25 ~ 999.999 MHz and 1025 ~ 1999.999 MHz. – Receive Modes: AM, FM, SSB – Sensitivity (12dB SINAD for FM; 10dB S/N for AM/SSB): 25 ~ 999.999 MHz: FM < 0.5µV AM < 1.0µV SSB < 0.3µV; FM (wide) < 1.0µV 1240 ~ 1300 MHz: FM < 0.5µV AM < 2.0µV SSB < 0.3µV FM (wide) < 2.0µV – Squelch Sensitivity: FM (Threshold): Less than 0.2µV. – Meter Squelch: More than 3.0µV. – Selectivity: FM (wide): ±75kHz minimum at -6dB.
