The ITC Multi-5000 is an all-mode two-meter amateur radio transceiver manufactured by International Telecommunications Corp. Designed as an upgrade to the earlier Multi-2000 model, it features higher power output, improved receiver sensitivity, an updated AGC system, smaller physical dimensions, and added support for LSB and AM.
As far as can be determined the Multi-5000 was advertised only once. It was apparently abandoned in favor of an upgrade the to the Multi-2000, resulting in the Multi-2000A.
Key features and build characteristics include:
– Operating Modes: Supports NBFM, WBFM, LSB, USB, and AM, with CW and MCW operable on USB, LSB, and AM.
– Integrated Features: Built-in fully adjustable VOX and speech clipper, adjustable sidetone level, mic gain/deviation controls, and an adjustable-threshold noise blanker.
– Power Output & Supply: Delivers up to 80 Watts of output power across all modes. It operates with an optional 13.6V, 15A regulated power supply (or a user-supplied external power source).
– Tuning & Display: Uses PLL synthesis with digital readout, providing frequency coverage from 143 MHz to 148.99 MHz in 10 kHz steps, with continuous fine-tuning via RIT and VXO.
– Price at Launch: 695 for the transceiver, plus 55 for the matching power supply.
