Note
The Kenwood AT-50 is an automatic antenna tuner designed for flexible use in both mobile and fixed station environments. It is engineered to provide quick, reliable tuning across a wide range of frequencies, featuring specialized operating modes for both dedicated Kenwood transceivers and other radio equipment.
It was released as the matching automatic antenna tuner for the Kenwood TS-50S, which was marketed at the time as the world's smallest 100W HF ham radio transceiver. Both units were produced through the late 1990s.
Features
– Frequency Coverage: 1.8 MHz through 29 MHz.
– Automatic Mode: Enables "hands-off" operation when paired with the matching TS-50S transceiver, allowing the radio to control all tuning actions.
– Semi-Automatic Mode: Designed for use with other transceivers, this mode automatically senses low-level RF signals to begin tuning with minimal operator input.
– Local Automatic Mode: Allows for manual control from the front panel while still utilizing the unit's internal automatic tuning circuitry.
– Battery-Free Memory: Uses EEPROM to store all preset tuning positions, ensuring data is retained without the need for a backup battery.
– Thru Mode: Includes a setting to bypass the tuning circuit, sending the signal directly to the antenna.
