General Notes

Note

The Kenwood SW-2000 is a through-type SWR and power meter designed for use in the 1.8 to 450 MHz frequency range, depending on the coupler used. The SW-2000 replaced the earlier SW-200 series, upgrading the design to handle higher power. Features – Multiple Coupler Support: The display unit can connect to up to three couplers simultaneously, allowing for the observation of multiple transmitters or antenna systems from one location. – Dual Meter Display: The unit features dual meters that simultaneously measure forward (FWD) and reflected (REF) power, facilitating fast and easy tuning. – PEP Measurement: It can measure Peak Envelope Power (PEP) for single sideband (SSB) operations using an operational amplifier to detect voice signal peak power. – High Sensitivity: The companion detectors offer high sensitivity and flat output characteristics, allowing for power measurements without additional calibration or calculation. – Separated Display and Coupler: The coupler can be mounted on the rear of the display unit or separated, enabling flexible placement of the display unit. – PEP Mode Indicator: A dedicated indicator lights up when the PEP measuring mode is selected. Specifications The SW-2000's parameters vary depending on the coupler used. It is typically sold with one SWC-3 coupler included. Display Section – Power Measurement Range (FWD): 0–200W and 0–2000W (2 ranges) – Power Measurement Range (REF): 0–100W and 0–1000W (2 ranges). – Accuracy: ±10% at full scale for 1.8–30 MHz; –15% for 50–54 MHz. – SWR Measurement Range: 1:1 to 1:10. – Minimum Power for SWR Measurement: Approximately 30W. Coupler Section (SWC-3) – Impedance: 50–52 Ω. – Frequency Range: 1.8–54 MHz. – Power Overload (HF): 1000W (AM/FM), 1500W (CW), 2000W (PEP). – Insertion Loss: Less than 0.3 dB. – Residual SWR: Within 1.2. – Connector Type: M type (SO-239). Optional Couplers – SWC-1: 1.8–150 MHz frequency range with a maximum power of 200W (AM/FM), 300W (CW), and 400W (PEP). – SWC-2: 140–450 MHz frequency range with a maximum power of 100W (AM/FM), 150W (CW), and 200W (PEP). – SWC-4: 1200–1300 MHz frequency range with a 20W maximum power Power Consumption: 11V–15V DC, maximum 100mA (for PEP measurement and meter lighting).
