General Notes

Note

73, Apr 1967, p. 119. (new product announcement) The Monarch FSI-4 is a multi-function test and monitoring instrument manufactured by Monarch Electronics. It integrates several essential station tools into a single compact enclosure. Likely sold mostly to the CB market. – Core Functions: Serves as an SWR bridge, modulation meter, power meter, and built-in TVI (Television Interference) filter. – Power Limits & Filtering: Rated for up to approximately 250 watts maximum power input up to 52 MHz. The 250W limit is primarily due to the internal TVI filter components, which feature a cutoff frequency of 55 MHz. – VHF / 2-Meter Operation: Usable on the 2-meter band with insertion loss under 1 dB, provided transmitter power input on 2 meters does not exceed 50 watts. – On-the-Air Indicator: Includes a dedicated "on the air" status light that runs on an external 6.3V AC/DC source so it draws no operating power from the transmitter's RF output.
