Many amateurs converted Motorola commercial VHF/UHF gear for use on the ham bands but the company aimed its Metrum series of 2 meter FM transceivers squarely at the amateur market. The radio's 12 channels were covered with one crystal per channel. An additional offset crystal was used for transmit frequencies during repeater operation. The Metrum II came in 10 watt ($399.95) and 25 watt ($499.95) models.
