The early UT-2000 was an adaptation of Lew McCoy’s (W1ICP) Ultimate Transmatch design. It worked with coax-fed or random-wire antennas. The UT-2000B added a three-core balun for use with balanced lines. Coverage was continuous from 1.8–30 MHz and the tuner was rated at 2 KW PEP. The UT-2000B also included a built-in Monomatch circuit and relative power/SWR meter. Murch Electronics was located in Franklin, Maine. The company manufactured the roller inductor and capacitors used in the tuner.
