The FB-7 and FB-X were identical seven-tube receivers, except that the X model included a crystal filter in the 500 kHz IF. Standard plug-in coils provided continuous coverage from 1.5–20 MHz, and band spread coils were available for the 160, 80, 40, and 20 meter amateur bands. The "A" version of the receivers used air-variable capacitors versus mica-compression trimmers to tune the IF transformers.
