National advertised the NC-100 as the perfected superhet. The 12-tube receiver covered .54-30 MHz in five ranges using a moving coil catacomb and had a built-in power supply. With the addition of the optional crystal filter, it became the 1OOX.
National restyled the NC-1OOX to create the 1OOXA. Changes included a new direct-reading dial, a tone control, and an S-meter to replace the "magic eye" indicator. The chassis inside the 11-tube receiver's new cabinet remained essentially the same as that of its predecessor, including moving-coil band switching.
