Electronics World, Dec 1961, p. 8 73, Jul 1963, p. 46. The Paco Model G-15W is a compact grid-dip meter manufactured by PACO Electronics, designed for versatile RF testing and troubleshooting in a amateur radio shack or workshop. The unit is engineered specifically for comfortable one-handed operation. The main tuning dial utilizes alternating bands of red and black lettering across individual scale bands. The plug-in coils are color-coded following the standard resistor color code (e.g., brown for the first range, red for the second, orange for the third), making band selection simple. The instrument covers a broad frequency spectrum from 400 kHz to 250 MHz across its coil ranges, and It runs on standard line power (115 VAC, 60 Hz) and consumes approximately 10 watts. Built with a sensitive 0.5 mA (half-mil) meter movement and a 10 kΩ grid resistor, the G-15 displays pronounced, easily readable dips. The design provides higher-than-average sensitivity when operated in diode/wavemeter mode. Primary Functions 1. Grid Dip Oscillator: Used to check the resonant frequencies of unpowered tuned circuits. 2. Absorption Wavemeter: Operates in diode mode to detect active RF energy in transmitter stages or antennas. 3. Modulation Indicator: Alters the grid circuit configuration to provide a visual indication of modulation percentage near 100%. 4. Signal Monitor: Features a built-in phone jack to function as an oscillating detector or for audibly monitoring voice transmissions. Kit: $31.95. WIred: $49.95 References Brief description.
