RME touted the model 99 as being suitable for both amateur and commercial duty. The large, semi-circular dial was calibrated for the receiver's six-band, 0.54-33 MHz general coverage. The window to the right of the main-tuning dial showed calibrated amateur band spread. The 99 used 10 Loktal tubes along with a VR tube and rectifier. A noise limiter and five-position crystal filter were included.
