The Swan version of the Astro 150 transceiver had most of the same features as the later Cubic Astro 150A, produced following Cubic's purchase of Swan.
The Astro 151 version of the 150 added 160 meter coverage in lieu of 10 meters.
The Cubic Astro-150A started life as the Swan Astro-150. The 100 watt output, 80-10 meter transceiver became part of Cubic Communications' product line in 1980. Its most significant feature was the "Variable Rate Scanning" tuning knob in the center of the front panel. It was not a tuning knob in the conventional sense, but caused the synthesizer to move up or down in frequency. Turning it clockwise moved up in frequency, counter-clockwise, down. The degree to which the knob was rotated from its center detent determined how fast it scanned. The buttons on the microphone tuned up or down in fixed 100 Hz steps, while the VRS knob made the frequency change appear continuous.
