Swan designed the 160-X for the top band operator. The SSB transceiver covered 160 meters only. It used 13 tubes, 7 transistors, and 11 diodes. The VFO tuned 1.8-2.0 MHz and was calibrated in 1 kHz increments. A panel switch selected among power levels of 50, 100, 200, and 400 watts PEP to keep the operator in compliance with geographical restrictions.
