In 1973 Swan introduced a pair of SSB/CW monobanders for 40 or 80 meters. These were the MB-40(A) and MB-80(A). The relatively simple, solid-state transceivers were perfect for mobile use. They were compact and had few controls requiring the operator's attention. The MB-40 & MB-80 were 75 watt versions.
The regular versions are 75 watt PEP. The "A" versions are 160 watt PEP.
"A" versions released: QST, May 1974, p. 123.
Both versions were sold concurrently.
