The Model 243 remote VFO was a duplicate of the Omni transceiver’s internal VFO. It was housed in a matching enclosure and provided six modes of dual-frequency operation. Either the Omni or 243 remote could be used for transceive operation. Either VFO could also control the transmit frequency while the other received. Finally, the Omni or remote VFO could transmit, while both received. The 243 remote VFO had provisions for four crystals to use for fixed frequency operation.
