Ten-Tec staked a claim on having the first solid-state QSK kilowatt linear amplifier when it introduced the Hercules 444. The amplifier used two 500 watt PA modules in push-pull and a combiner to deliver 600 watts output on 160-10 meters. Band switching was automatic when the Hercules was used in conjunction with Ten-Tec's Omni transceiver. Its 110/220 VAC power supply delivered 45 VDC at 24 amps and was housed in a separate cabinet.
