General Notes

Note

73, Jul 1977, p. 173. (the ad does not specifically say so, this is likely ad ad for the TE-122.) QST, Oct 1977, p. 158. The Trac TE-122 was the entry-level, "no-frills" sibling to the TE-133 and TE-144 in the Trac Electronics product line. Introduced starting in 1977, it was designed for the operator who wanted the benefits of CMOS technology (low power consumption) without the extra cost of the deluxe features found in higher models. Technical Differences & Features – While the TE-133 was considered the "standard" model, the TE-122 was the basic version. Its primary focus was portability and high efficiency. – Keying Logic: Like the TE-133, it utilized CMOS logic (4000-series ICs) for timing, ensuring that a single 9V battery would last for months or even years of normal operation. – Iambic Operation: It supported full iambic (squeeze) keying. – Speed Control: It featured a single front-panel "Speed" knob, covering approximately 5 to 50 WPM. – Simplified Controls: Like the TE-133 or the "deluxe" TE-144, the TE-122 had a built-in sidetone and speaker. The "Trac-Key" Pairing: The TE-122 was frequently marketed alongside the "Trac-Key," which was the company’s own branded twin-paddle squeeze key. TE-122 Features – Self completing dots and dashes – Dot and dash memory – Iambic keying with any squeeze paddle – 5-50 WPM – Speed, volume, tone controls, side tone and speaker – Low current drain CMOS-battery operation – Deluxe quarter-inch jacks for keying and output – Handsome eggshell white base woodgrain top – Grid block keying
