The Transcom SBT-3 transceiver covered the phone portions of 75, 40, and 20 meters. It used 18 transistors and ran 165 watts PEP input to its final. The tubes used, a pair of 8042s, were instant-heating types and the filaments remained off during receive cycles. The SBT-3 operated on the normal sideband for the band in operation. It required a separate power supply. Transcom Electronics, Inc. was located in Escondido, California.
