Whippany Laboratories was owned by Ed Ladd, W21DZ. In 1963, the West Caldwell, New Jersey company introduced the commercial version of Ladd's L'il Lulu transmitter. The rig had already become a popular home brew project among 6 meter ops during the previous decade. All stages up to the final amplifier were gang-tuned and tracked with the VFO. Power output was 6 watts on CW and 5 watts on AM. The Li'l Lulu was legendary for being able to operate interference-free on the TVI-prone 6 meter band.
