The Globe Champion 300 ran 350 watts CW, and 250 watts AM with a pair of Amperex 9909 finals. The transmitter had a built-in VFO and single-knob band switching on 160–10 meters. Push-pull 809s modulators were used on AM, along with audio compression. The Globe Champ 300 included provisions for SSB with an external exciter.
WRL incorporated improved filtering and shielding into the “A” version of the Globe Champ 300. Additional changes involved repositioning the buffer tube and cooling fan. Some 300-A transmitters, including the one pictured here, were not marked as such on the front panel.
