The Kirkwood crew all died on 17 December 1943 due to fog. The aircraft crashed near RAF Gransden Lodge, in isolated farmland, and caught fire.
This card would have been attached to the wreath sent to Ted Hubbard's family with his Union Jack-draped coffin. Similar cards would have accompanied the coffins of other members of the crew.
