Context

National Ministry of Defence, Canadian Government, card to Paul David's parents after it had been confirmed that Paul David had been killed. The card says that the Government and the Canadian people are most grateful for the sacrifice that Paul David made for his country and will honour his glorious memory. The date on the card refers to the date of Paul David's death. Paul David and his crew had not returned from their bombing operation of 22/23 June 1943 against Mulheim. Paul David was confirmed dead in September 1943, through information that the Red Cross received from the Germans. Donated by Claude David.
