Description

Paul David, RCAF, bomb aimer, 97 Squadron. Letters to Paul David (2 images).

Context

Two letters to Paul David from the mother of a Canadian pilot, Sgt Peter Prime, (Service Number: R/79255) who was killed on 01 August 1942, aged 29 years, when flying from 25 OTU (a training camp) on an operation to Dusseldorf. His mother, Alice Wild Prime, of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, U.S.A., appears to have taken up sending gifts of cigarettes to other Canadian aircrew in memory of her son, whom she mentions in her letters. He was buried at Amsterdam, about 30 miles from Paul David's eventual grave at Utrecht. Donated by Claude David.
