Name/Title

97/Armstrong Crew: David, grave at Utrecht

Entry/Object ID

2023.1054

Description

Paul David, RCAF, bomb aimer, 97 Squadron. Grave at Utrecht.

Context

This is Paul David's grave before the IWGC (later the CWGC) tombstone was erected. The cross is almost certainly that erected once the grave had been verified by the MRES, and therefore is a later cross than the one shown in Cat No: 2023.1055 and 2023.1057. It may tie up with the RCAF letter, date 3 May 1948. Note the flag in front of the cross, with a Union Jack on it. The emblem next to it is possibly of Dutch origin (Utrecht council?). Donated by Claude David.
