Description

Stanley transitional iron and wood smoothing plane no. 135 with liberty bell.

Use

Smoothing planes were used to smooth wood surfaces. Transitional planes were meant for those who thought the wood on wood had a better feel than the metal on wood, but still wanted the adjustment mechanisms known on the metallic counterparts. The "Liberty Bell" planes were produced to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
