1949 Whizzer Motorized BicycleDescription
Whizzer released its Model 300 motor in September 1949 to keep pace with new competition from other manufacturers. This engine had a more efficient combustion chamber, better cooling, and a higher compression ratio. Producing 3 hp, this engine enabled this bicycle to reach speeds of up to 40 mph.
In 1949, the Model 300 engine kit sold for $109.97 while the pre-built motorized bicycles cost $224.50. Due to increased competition, a shrinking market for motorized bicycles, and consumer preference for full-sized automobiles, Whizzer went out of business in 1965.Motor Vehicle Type
