Description

This Cadillac was originally purchased from Wells Cadillac in West Orange, NJ, for $3,360. It was purchased for the use of Mina Miller Edison, Thomas Edison's second wife. It is one of 338 built in 1940. It also has the original upholstery and furnishings such as two rear jump seats, a division window, and an audio microphone for instructing the chauffeur. Unique to this car, however, is the chauffeur's lamp or opera light, a small light fixed to the top of the car to make it easier to find after a night out. Some additional features of this car are an L-head V8 engine that produces 140 hp, 141" wheelbase, four-wheel hydraulic brakes, three-speed transmission, AM radio, and inlaid wood trim around the windows. Customers could choose between 15 colors and multiple two-tone combos. It weighs 4,790 pounds.
