Description

Vintage lusterware "Bonzo the Dog" salt and pepper shakers. Bonzo the Dog is a cartoon character created in 1922 by British comic strip artist George Studdy. He quickly became popular in the 1920s and starred in one of the world’s first cartoons. Bonzo became an inspiration for mass-marketed merchandise. One is marked "I'm Salt" and the other is marked "I'm Pepper". Both shakers are marked "Made in Japan" on the bottom.
