Description

Vintage 1950"s Fiedler & Fiedler Mold & Die Works plastic penguins Willie and Millie salt and pepper shakers. Willie was the mascot for "Kool" cigarettes - known as "Willie the Kool Penguin". In 1931 Brown and Williamson Tobacco Co. began making menthol cigarettes named "Penguin". In 1933 the name was changed to "Kool" but the advertising symbol that they used continued to be penguins. The "Willie & Millie" penguin salt and pepper shakers became premiums for Kool cigarettes. They were made by Fiedler & Fiedler Mold & Die Works and were available for twenty-five cents and two Kool cigarette packages until the 1960's.
