Name/Title

1938 LaSalle Coupe

Description

General Motors produced LaSalle automobiles from 1927 to 1940 to fill the price gap between Cadillac and Buick. It was named after the French explorer who sailed up the Mississippi in 1682, Rene-Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle. 1938 was not a great year for the automobile industry. Sales dropped 40% with the recession and LaSalle sales in particular dropped 51%. This 1938 LaSalle coupe, which had five body styles, was the lowest-priced coupe at $1,259. Some basic features of this car include an L-head V8 engine, three-speed column shift, and a wheelbase of 124". On the other hand, some optional features were dual opera rear seats, dual metal tire covers, wide whitewall tires, a clock, and a deluxe heater. Total sales for that year were poor, at only $15,575.
