Collection of typed correspondence related to research on architect Lilian J. Rice for an exhibition and catalogue on women in architecture organized by the Architectural League of New York. The letters include a January 30 1976 response from J. R. K. Kantor, University Archivist at the University of California, Berkeley, providing information from the University of California “Blue and Gold” yearbook about Lilian Jeannette Rice and arranging for a photograph reproduction; a February 3 1976 letter from architect Lawrence C. Test discussing possible research sources and architectural records; a February 6 1976 letter from R. M. Clotfelter of Rancho Santa Fe describing Rice’s work with the firm Requa & Jackson and her role in early Rancho Santa Fe architecture; and several letters dated February 11 and February 18 1976 from Judith Paine of the Archive of Women in Architecture requesting additional information about Rice’s life, work, and architectural projects. The file also includes a February 18 1976 letter from the Rancho Santa Fe Art Jury stating that while they possess scrapbook references to Rice they do not hold authenticated records related to her work.Creator
