Description
Printed biographical entry titled “Rice, Lilian J. (1888–12/22/1938)” describing the life and career of architect Lilian J. Rice. The text states that she was born in National City, California, studied architecture at the University of California, Berkeley under John Galen Howard, and later worked in the office of Requa & Jackson in San Diego where she was placed in charge of the preliminary planning for the development of Rancho Santa Fe. The entry notes that she later continued the work independently and designed numerous Spanish-type homes and buildings in Rancho Santa Fe, as well as residences in La Jolla and elsewhere in San Diego County, and that she also designed two public schools including San Dieguito High School at Encinitas.
