Description

Continuation of the Los Angeles Times article “Show Goers Play Part in Hiring Teachers,” describing the cancellation of music and art programs in the Rancho Santa Fe School District following budget cuts associated with Proposition 13. The article discusses Jeff Brown’s proposal to use a musical revue to fund replacement instructors, the expansion of the production’s cast, and the involvement of director Dennis O'Drane and choreographer Sue Gilson. It also describes the district’s dependence on state funding and volunteer assistance and considers whether similar fundraising efforts could support educational programs elsewhere.
