Terracotta, Terracotta VotivesDescription
This small terracotta statuette depicts a standing female figure wrapped tightly in a thick mantle (himation) draped over her head, causing her posture to incline forward with an inclined or lowered head. The drapery folds form long, continuous vertical and subtle diagonal lines that flow down the tapered body, concealing fine anatomical contours while emphasizing a slender, stylized silhouette.
Composed of a dark brownish-red earthenware clay matrix with coarse inclusions, the figurine exhibits soft, worn details typical of a well-used single-front press mold. The reverse is flat to minimally modeled, characteristic of ancient votive terracottas designed primarily for frontal display or devotional dedication at sanctuary sites.Collection
