Molded Terracotta Draped Female Figurine
This small-scale, mold-made terracotta figurine depicts a standing, fully draped female figure. She is wrapped tightly in a heavy mantle (himation) draped over her head and body, enveloping her arms and torso. Soft, vertical, and diagonal drapery folds cascade down the length of the body, defining the form underneath while emphasizing the verticality of the posture.
The head is topped by a conical or hooded veil formed by the extended drapery. Traces of an original slip preparation layer are visible across the lower folds, along with faint residues of pinkish/reddish pigment around the chest and midsection, indicating the figurine may have been brightly painted originally. The reverse is minimally modeled, characteristic of mold-pressed terracotta statuettes intended for frontal viewing or votive dedication.Collection
