Terracotta Votives, TerracottaDescription
This small terracotta statuette depicts a standing, heavily draped male figure. The figure is encased in a long, enveloping cloak (himation) that extends from the head down to the base, obscuring anatomical details while creating a smooth, elongated vertical silhouette. The head is rounded and soft, with facial features heavily abraded, though the soft outline of the chin and brow line remains visible.
Composed of a warm, buff-to-tan earthenware clay matrix, the figurine exhibits shallow vertical ridges along the body indicating stylized drapery folds. The reverse is flat to minimally modeled, characteristic of single-front press-molded terracottas produced for votive offerings in ancient sanctuary settings.Collection
