Fragment of a Plaque Depicting a Man in a BoatEntry/Object ID

TerracottaDescription
This molded terracotta relief fragment preserves part of a low-relief plaque depicting a figure in a vessel or boat. To the left, the stylized upper torso and arm of a man are rendered in profile, positioned above the horizontal gunwale line of a boat or skiff. Curved, sweeping relief lines below the hull indicate water currents or stylized waves.
Composed of a buff-to-light tan earthenware clay matrix, the fragment is irregularly shaped with broken fracture lines along the top, left, and bottom edges. The right side retains a relatively straight edge, suggesting proximity to the original plaque border. The flat reverse reflects standard press-mold production techniques for terracotta architectural or votive plaques intended for mounting or wall display.Collection
