Terracotta, Terracotta VotivesDescription
This small terracotta fragment preserves the upper head and hooded mantle section of a molded female figurine. The head is encased in a thick, rounded veil or cowl that frames the facial area in a defined arch, widening slightly toward the lower shoulders. The central facial features are highly abraded and worn, leaving soft, generalized contours in place of distinct details.
Composed of a dark, reddish-brown clay matrix, the fragment is broken horizontally across the lower neck/chest line, creating a flat, hollow, irregular base. The smooth, flattened back profile indicates it was produced using a single-front mold, typical of ancient votive statuettes made for frontal display or devotional placement.Collection
