Fragment of Plaque of Male Holding a BasketEntry/Object ID
RC.AC.06.22Tags
TerracottaDescription
This relief fragment preserves part of a molded terracotta plaque depicting a male figure carrying a basket or offering vessel. The relief surface features low to medium projection, with soft, rounded contours delineating the arm/body of the figure and the woven or curved shape of the basket held near the waist/torso.
Composed of a pale, buff-to-tan earthenware clay matrix, the fragment is bounded by rough, irregular fracture lines where it broke away from the larger plaque. The back surface is flat and unworked, indicative of relief plaque production cast from a single mold, typically intended for wall mounting, architectural attachment, or votive dedication at a shrine or sanctuary.Collection
