Fragmented Figurine of Man in CapEntry/Object ID

Terracotta, Terracotta VotivesDescription
This mold-made terracotta fragment preserves the head and neck segment of a male figure wearing a conical, pointed cap or helmet (pilos or pileus). The cap tapers upward to a rounded peak, closely framing the brow line and sides of the face. The facial features, though softened by age and surface erosion, retain clear sculptural definition, including a prominent nose bridge, soft cheekbones, and an oval jawline extending into a thick, cylindrical neck section.
Composed of a warm, sandy buff-to-tan earthenware clay matrix, the object terminates in a rounded, irregular fracture at the base of the neck where it broke away from the shoulder or torso of the original statuette. The flat profile on the reverse indicates standard press-mold production, typical of ancient votive terracottas designed for frontal display or sanctuary dedication.Collection
