Fragmented Head of Female FigurineEntry/Object ID

Terracotta, Terracotta VotivesDescription
This small terracotta fragment preserves the head and upper neck section of a molded female figurine. The head is crowned with a tall, cylindrical headpiece or draped polis/veil, extending upward from a framed, rounded face. Facial features—including soft depressions for the eyes, a defined nose bridge, and a small chin—remain partially preserved despite overall surface erosion.
Composed of a warm earthy-brown clay matrix, the head terminates directly below the chin in a fractured, irregular break where it originally joined the shoulders or torso of the larger statuette. The flat profile on the reverse reflects standard single-mold production techniques commonly used for ancient votive figurines meant for single-sided presentation.Collection
