TerracottaDescription
This molded terracotta relief fragment preserves part of a low-relief architectural or votive plaque depicting a reclining or reclining/leaning male figure. The figure is shown leaning heavily toward the right with a bare torso, a draped garment wrapped around the lower body/legs, and a bent right arm resting against a raised support or rock formation.
Composed of a warm, sandy buff-to-tan earthenware clay matrix, the relief is anchored along a straight horizontal ground line at the lower edge. The upper and right boundaries feature irregular, diagonal fractures where the piece broke away from the larger plaque composition. The flat profile on the unmodeled back indicates standard single-front press-mold production, typical of ancient votive plaques or relief panels intended for wall attachment or sanctuary dedication.Collection
