Terracotta, Terracotta VotivesDescription
This block-like terracotta fragment depicts the lower torso, seat, or base section of paired seated figures (a dual votive throne or conjoined figure group). The object features a rigid, architectural structure with two distinct vertical masses side by side, divided by a shallow central recession along the front plane.
Composed of a coarse, pale buff-to-light grey earthenware clay matrix with visible granular inclusions, the piece is hollow-molded with a rectangular opening or void at the underside base. The upper portion is broken across the waist/torso line, revealing an irregular fracture, while the lower base forms a flat foundation typical of mold-made votive plaques or throne groups dedicated at ancient sanctuary sites.Collection
