Terracotta, Terracotta VotivesDescription
This terracotta object is a molded fragment representing two conjoined, side-by-side seated or standing figures (a dual votive plaque or group figurine). The upper portion outlines two distinct, rounded heads/hooded profiles side by side under a shared contour. Deep, oval depressions mark the facial planes, framing worn and stylized facial structures.
Composed of a warm reddish-brown clay matrix, the object is broken horizontally along a broad, flat fracture line across the lower midsection or waist, indicating that the lower throne or lower bodies are missing. The compact, frontal composition is typical of archaic or classical votive terracottas depicting paired deities, divine couples, or votaries offered at sanctuary sites.Collection
