World War I field service postcard on brown card. Front text on upper left corner: "A.F.A. 2042. 114/Gen. No./5248." Left hand column text: "The address only to be written on this side. if anything else is added the post card will be destroyed. Crown Copyright Reserved." Postdated from Field Post Office Aug 22, 1918, arrival postdate in Arlington Heights, ILL; Sep 11, 1918. Addressed to "Miss Josephine Raupp Arlington Heights Illinois, U.S.A." reverse text at top center: "Nothing is to be written on this side except the date and signature of the sender. Sentences not required may be erased. If anything else is added the post card will be destroyed." Form letter with all lines scratched out except "I am well" and "I have received your letter dated July 24, Letter follows at first opportunity; signature Bernard Raupp Date August 19,1918." Typed text at the lower center: "Wt. W65-PP 948. 8000m. 5-18 C&Co. Grange Mills, SW."
