Description

One (1) early 1900s Edison Phonograph. Phonograph is contained in a wood oak rectangular cabinet. The cabinet is slightly longer than it is wide. The cabinet has a mesh cover on the front center, where the music plays out of a black sound horn behind the mesh. The mesh cover has a decorative carved circular wood design. There is a crank on one side to wind up the phonograph. The top of the phonograph opens up and is held open with a metal latch on one side. There is a metal turntable in the center with green felt cloth cover on top. There is a metal tone arm that can be adjusted inward and outward, left to right) and moved up and down with a small lever (rotating mechanism) near the center right of the unit. There is a metal needle attached to the tone arm. There are two metal latches that move together - one to stop the turntable, and one to move the turntable. There is a small circular button on the top left side (function unknown). "Edison" is written in gold cursive script in the back of the inside of the top. In the top right corner of the black metal top inside, there is a printed signature for Thomas Edison. On the front, under the mesh cover, is a door that opens right to left, with a plastic circular clear handle. This opens to reveal vertical slots to places records, with red felt covering, and numbers underneath each slot. The mesh cover on front can be removed. There is a brown rectangular sticker on the inside right corner of cabinet that says "Edison No. 18, Factory Cabinet Form 2430. There is another gold plaque affixed to the front inside of the cabinet identifying the unit as an Edison Disc Phonograph.
