Scope and Content

This copy of the 1976 Chesapeake Appreciation Days log features a description of Chesapeake Appreciation Month, which took place in October of 1976. This Maryland state holiday commemorates the celebration of economic and community development as it relates to the Chesapeake region. The booklet features a list of the Board and all relevant committees for the event, a schedule of events, a map of the race course for the workboats, and a roster of all participating watercraft. The page on Sailing Races: Class II includes Thompson Wallace listed as the skipper for the Skipjack Claud W. Somers. Notably Wallace participated in this course race months before Claud W. Somers sunk in March of 1977.
